The Iron Man Challenge

Teesside Karting Iron Man karts

Three karting challenges - which driving seat is yours?

Teesside Karting is the home of the British 24-hour kart race, so we know a thing or two about endurance karting! Although not as extreme as 24-hour racing, you can still experience the thrill of endurance karting through our three formats of Iron Man race, lasting between 40 and 90 minutes after practice.

Our karts are hand-built for racing, so you'll be hitting speeds of around 60mph on our long straights and massive South Bank Bend. All three of our epic endurance races will put you through your paces with a practice/qualifying session followed by the endurance race. Choose the Classic or International for a 40-minute race, or the Extreme for a longer 90-minute race.

How can I take part?

Individuals or groups of less than 8 drivers...

You can join an Iron Man Classic race that is already taking place on most Saturdays and Sundays, or you can take advantage of our monthly open Iron Man International races where you can enter as individuals or small groups.

Groups of 8 to 24 drivers...

You can start your own race on our National Circuit, starting with our Classic Iron Man 40-minute endurance race format from £65 per driver. Every race is then open for smaller groups to join, up to a maximum of 35 drivers. This concept of adding groups together makes for a much more exciting race for all involved.

Groups of 25 drivers...

You can stage your own exclusive International Iron Man race with the same 40-minute endurance race format from £70 per driver on the longest kart track in the UK.

When can we race?

The circuit is open from Wednesday to Sunday, 8:30am to 8pm. We will work with you to find the most convenient time for your race. If you have a special occasion, be aware that we take bookings up to six months in advance so it's always best to book early if you want to race on a specific date and time.

What does the price cover?

Each driver will be able to borrow a race suit and helmet, but will also need to purchase a set of gloves and balaclava. Before the race, every driver will receive a briefing, which will cover all the details of the race and how to drive on the circuit in the safest way to protect all participating drivers.

Each driver will be assigned their own kart for the race. If anything happens to that kart, we have spare karts that you can swap to, so you will be able to continue your race.

All Iron Man races are electronically timed so we can inform everyone of their best lap times. You'll also be able to check these out after the race at results.alphatiming.co.uk/teesside. Trophies will be given for first, second and third place in the race.
