NRG Hire Sprint
In 2024 we will be make a couple of changes to the NRG Hire Championship, Teesside Karting Sprint has a new sponsor: NRG Karting. Thus the NRG Hire Championship is now the UK's biggest Arrive and Drive hire-kart sprint series.
- 8 rounds in all - 7 to count.
- Lightweight and heavyweight classes.
- Different circuit layouts.
- 10-minute qualifying and two 20 minute races: lights and heavies.
- Trophies at every round.
2024 Dates:
- Round 1 - March 3rd
- Round 2 - April 14th
- Round 3 - May 12th
- Round 4 - June 9th
- Round 5 - August 4th
- Round 6 - October 13th
- Round 7 - November 10th
- Round 8 - December 8th
Race times
- Heavy race drivers: 12:00
- Light race drivers: 14:00
You must arrive on time. Any drivers that are not signed on, changed and ready to go by 11:45 or 13:45 may forfeit their entry into the race.
The karts
The championship take place in the hire kart fleet now fitted with GX200 Honda engines.
Entry criteria
The championship is open to anyone of 16 years and over or 14 years old with a race licence or a member of the Academy Programe
It is currently the North of England’s leading hire-kart sprint series, allowing new and experienced drivers the opportunity to compete in a low-cost, competitive championship, without the need for capital outlay. NRG Karting and Teesside Karting are keen to promote racing talent in the region and see this series as an ideal way to help achieve this.
The championship is held at Teesside Autodrome over 8 rounds, with the best 7 rounds counting towards the final championship standings.
Heavyweight [85kg] and Lightweight [70kg] classes compete in the same format of a 10-minute practice and two 20-minute races. [ we are currently revising the weight classes for 2024 please check back]
The entry price is £65 per round and a one-off registration fee of £20 when booking the first round.
To book
Bookings are taken at Teesside Karting. The cost is £65 per round with a one-off £15 registration fee via the Teesside Karting online booking system. The full entry cost must be paid immediately. Unpaid entries will be deleted automatically (even with a deposit). Booking is on a round-by-round basis and will open on the Monday after each round for the next month. Booking will close at 12pm on the Wednesday before each race day.
